The Story So Far

THE ORIGIN
OF RUG'D

01The Belief

Ben Rug was never the loudest person in the room. A quiet IT technician with a deep belief in the transformative potential of blockchain technology, he spent years watching the space from the sidelines — reading, researching, and waiting for the moment it would all click into place. That moment came in the form of Eternaverse: a Web3 gaming project that seemed to represent everything the technology promised. Legitimacy. Community. A genuine leap forward. Ben didn't just invest — he believed.

The Belief
02The Connection

For the first time, that belief gave him something beyond a portfolio. He brought it to work. He shared it with the people around him — Chad, the brash risk-taker who jumped in headfirst; Norman, the cautious skeptic who dipped a careful toe; Max, the ideological purist who argued at every turn but followed anyway; Wally, the big-swinging whale who threw in money he barely understood; and Miya Satomi, the brilliant, warm colleague Ben had quietly admired for longer than he'd ever admit. For the first time in years, he wasn't a loner. He was someone people listened to. Someone they trusted.

The Connection
03The Rug

Then Eternaverse rugged overnight. The project vanished. Wallets emptied. The team disappeared without a trace. And Ben was left holding the wreckage of something he had personally put in front of every person he'd just started to call a friend. The financial loss was painful. The shame was worse. He had led people he cared about off a cliff, and he couldn't forgive himself for it. He withdrew — back to his desk, back to silence, back to being the person no one noticed.

The Rug
04The Switch

It was Miya who reached through it. She didn't fully understand the mechanics of what had happened — the rug pull, the tokenomics, the exit scam playbook. But she showed up anyway, asked questions, and listened without judgment. When Ben finally opened up, she told him something he wasn't ready to hear but needed to: that he wasn't wrong. That the technology was still real. That the problem was never his belief — it was the people he'd trusted with it. She still believed in him. That was the switch.

The Switch
05The Initiative

Ben didn't just recover. He redirected. If the Web3 space was going to keep destroying itself — through greed, bad actors, and projects that promised everything and delivered nothing — then someone needed to build something that pushed back. A proving ground. A platform where projects had to earn legitimacy through merit rather than marketing, where collaboration replaced competition, and where the kind of fraud that ruined him had nowhere to hide. He called it the Rug'd Initiative.

The Initiative
06The Universe

In practice, it was a platform. In Ben's mind, it became a universe. He began to see it as a living world — a place where every project, every ideology, and every archetype of the crypto space took physical form. The believers and the degens. The whales and the builders. The maxis and the normies. His coworkers became something larger than themselves — archetypes in a world that mirrored the chaos they'd all lived through. Together they entered Ben's imagined universe ready to do what the real space never could: unite, collaborate, and build something that lasted.

The Universe
07The War

It didn't stay that way. The same forces that had corrupted the real crypto space followed them in. Greed crept through the cracks. Alliances fractured. Projects that arrived as collaborators became rivals. The shared mission dissolved into a chaotic battle for Capital — the lifeblood of every faction's survival — and what was meant to be a proving ground became a war zone. Watching from the shadows was the Greed Reaper. Not just a villain — the personification of everything Ben had set out to fight. He was there at the beginning. He's been watching ever since.

The War
08The Arena

That war is Rug'd. A sprawling, satirical battlefield soaked in crypto lore, degen culture, meme mythology, and the darkly comic spectacle of an industry that can never quite get out of its own way. Players drain each other's Capital to zero, rugging their opponents out of existence one battle at a time. Every match is a chapter in the living history of the Initiative — a space where heroes, opportunists, and predators all fight under the same banner of decentralization, but not everyone is fighting for the same future. Ben Rug built a world to save the space he loved. The space had other ideas.

Lore Meets Gameplay

EVERY MATCH
IS A CHAPTER

When you play Rug'd, you're not just playing a card game. You're participating in the living history of the Initiative — a universe where every Capital drain is a faction falling, and every match is another chapter in a war that was never supposed to happen.

Capital = Survival

In the lore, Capital isn't just a game stat — it's the lifeblood of every faction. When it hits zero, the faction falls. That's not a loss screen. That's a rug.

Factions = Beliefs

Every faction in the Arena represents a real ideology — a way of thinking about the space, about money, about power. Deckbuilding is a statement of allegiance.

The Arena = The Initiative

Ben's proving ground didn't stay peaceful. The Arena is what it became — the place where collaboration ran out and the real fight for dominance began.
